The new Dylan GBS is now among us, called "Fourth Time Around." Same exquisite design as the previous three volumes > color, high-gloss, tri-gatefold slipcase w/"gold leaf" cover, inner picture sleeves for the disks, magnificent 24-page color booklet w/numerous rarely seen photos...and, best of all, 19 previously uncirculating tracks, 17 upgrades, 2 very recently newly circulating tracks and the rest in circulation but that just "fit." 62 fabulous tracks in all. This fits into the same scheme as the previous volumes, with 1/3 new, 1/3 upgraded and 1/3 that just "work." What a listen!!
Quality throughout is simply astonishing, even breathtaking in some cases. Details are below including the cover and complete tracklisting w/full annotation from the inner sleeves themselves. The new material is awe-inspiring to say the least.
Some background: Only 1000 copies have been produced of this volume, 500 of which remained in Japan and 500 pegged for the U.S. market (there were 3000 copies done of the previous three volumes). That said, this volume of the classic series has proven a bit pricier, as it is being treated more as a limited edition, not to mention the costs inherent in its superb graphic/design aesthetic and the low value of the dollar overseas. The deluxe design has always made these the equivalent of a 4CD set, anyway...and now it's simply more limited. .I don't suppose these will be around for long like the previous volumes and will be a true collector's item. order soon as I wont have these for long.
